Paul’s Whole Wheat Seed & Spice Bread (Bread Machine Recipe)

Ingredients

1 ½ cups whole wheat flour

1 cup 7-grain cereal (dry, uncooked)

¼ cup flaxseed meal

¼ cup wheat bran

1 ½ tsp salt

1 ½ cups warm water (adjust as needed during kneading)

1 tbsp molasses

1 tbsp sugar-free maple syrup

1 tbsp sunflower seeds

1 tbsp pumpkin seeds

2 tbsp raisins

¼ tsp cayenne pepper (or adjust to taste)

½ tsp turmeric powder

½ tsp ground cumin

½ tsp cinnamon

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast or bread machine yeast

Instructions

1. Add Ingredients to Bread Machine:

Place the ingredients into the bread machine pan in this order (or as per your machine’s instructions):

1. Warm water

2. Molasses and sugar-free maple syrup

3. Whole wheat flour, 7-grain cereal, flaxseed meal, and wheat bran

4. Salt, spices (cayenne, turmeric, cumin, cinnamon)

5. Seeds and raisins

6. Yeast on top (keep it separate from the liquids).

2. Select the Settings:

Use the Whole Wheat or Whole Grain program.

Choose the 2-pound loaf size.

Select your preferred crust setting (light, medium, or dark).

3. Monitor the Dough:

During the first kneading cycle, open the lid to check the dough consistency.

If the dough looks too dry, add water 1 tablespoon at a time. If too wet, add a small amount of flour.

4. Bake and Cool:

Let the bread machine complete the cycle.

When finished, remove the bread from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 20-30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

The combination of seeds and spices adds a unique, flavorful twist.

Adjust the cayenne pepper and turmeric to your heat and flavor preference.

The 7-grain cereal and wheat bran contribute to a hearty texture and excellent fiber content.
